“Kids Helping Kids During the Holidays” is a program sponsored by the Buena Vista PTA to help brighten the holidays for many children and their families. The program is generously supported by donations from Buena Vista families. Donations are used to purchase holiday gifts for children of families who may need some assistance for a variety of reasons. In the past, the PTA has provided gifts for needy children at Buena Vista and, when funds allowed, within the surrounding community. While the primary goal is to provide clothing, the program also provides some toys or school supplies.
How to Receive Gifts
If you would like your children to receive gifts through the “Kids Helping Kids” program, please complete the consent form that is sent home via your blue communications folder in October. Gifts will be provided for all children who are currently attending Buena Vista Elementary in K – 5th Grade.
While “Kids Helping Kids” is sponsored by the PTA, it is administered by the school guidance department. Participation is completely voluntary and confidential. If you have any questions about participating in this program, please call Guidance Counselor Terri Pfister at 355-2204.
How to Donate
The PTA holds a fund-raising drive for “Kids Helping Kids” in early December. Buena Vista families are asked to consider ways that they may be able to help. Remember, the intent of the program is for our kids to help other kids. Any and all donations – large or small – are appreciated. Many children are delighted to bring in their loose change or dollar bills to help other children. Here are a few suggestions:
• Have your children start a “Kids Helping Kids” loose change jar at home.
• Invite your child to do extra chores at home to earn money for “Kids Helping Kids”.
• Adopt or sponsor a child or family and have your child help you shop for the gifts.
• Invite your child’s Scout Troop to adopt or sponsor a child or family.
Volunteer Shoppers Needed
Volunteers are needed to shop for the gifts in early December. All parents, teachers and staff members are invited to be volunteer shoppers.
